The Somatic ERA™ Method
Foundational Training
with Linda R. McFadden M.Ed., RP.
Know exactly what to do—and when to do it—when a client’s system becomes overwhelmed, shuts down, or escalates.
In this training you learn The ERA Method™ —a multi-modality, state-based framework
that teaches you how to recognize what is happening in your client’s system in real time,
and respond with precision.
Instead of searching for the right technique, you learn to read the state—and let that guide what you do next.
Most practitioners are trained to follow the story.
In this work, you learn to follow the state.
You don’t need more tools.
You need to know when—and how—to use them.
The Somatic ERA™ Foundations is a state-based framework that equips you to:
-
assess client capacity in real time
-
match intervention to what the system can hold
-
prevent flooding before it escalates
A 3-month foundational training for practitioners who want to move beyond techniques
The ERA Method™ emerged from consistent patterns I observed over years of working with trauma, dysregulation, and in-session overwhelm.
It became clear that many practitioners are trained in techniques—but not in how to respond when a client’s system escalates, shuts down, or exceeds capacity.
What developed is not another set of tools, but a structured way of understanding what is happening in real time—so intervention becomes clear, timely, and effective.
If you’ve ever felt that moment in session when something shifts—and you’re unsure what to do next—you’re not alone.
This work gives you a way to recognize what is happening in the system — and let that guide your response.

Linda R. McFadden, M.Ed., RP
-
You’ve learned different approaches but still feel unsure when clients become overwhelmed or shut down
-
You can feel something happening —but don’t always know how to respond
-
You’ve seen flooding or collapse and want a way to prevent it
-
You’re tired of relying on intuition alone and want a clearer structure
-
You want to work effectively without needing clients to retell their story
-
You’re ready to move beyond techniques and know when — and how — to use them
This is for you if:
You will be able to:
-
Recognize what’s happening in your client’s system in real time
-
Know when to engage, slow down, or shift direction
-
Apply the right intervention without guessing
-
Use simple, structured language to reduce overwhelm
-
Prevent flooding instead of reacting to it
-
Adjust as your client’s state changes in session
This is about making your work clearer, more precise and easier to trust.

Learn how to reduce client overwhelm and prevent flooding in real time—while working effectively with trauma and complex emotional states.
What This Training Requires
This is not a passive learning experience.
In this training you will be asked to:
• stay present with what is happening in real time
• notice your own tendencies to push, fix, or
follow the story
• develop the capacity to slow down and respond with precision
This work builds through direct application—not just understanding.
Training Structure
This is a structured, practitioner-level training designed for integration—not just information.
Format: Live, online training (Zoom)
Duration: 3 months (12 weeks)
Sessions: Weekly, 60–90 minutes
Start Date: August 5, 2026
Enrollment for the Foundational Training is now open.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is this only for somatic practitioners?
No. This training is relevant for any practitioner working with trauma, dysregulation, or emotional intensity. The focus is on pacing and state — not on a specific modality.
2. Is this the full Somatic ERA™ Method?
No. This 3-month Foundations training focuses specifically on preventing client flooding and stabilizing session pacing. However, this training is the foundation for the Somatic ERA™ Practitioner Training Program (6-month).
3. Will this replace my current approach?
No. It enhances your existing work. You’ll learn how to determine when and how to apply what you already know — without escalating the system.
4. What if I already have advanced training?
Many experienced practitioners join specifically because they want greater clarity in real-time pacing and containment.
5. How is this different from learning more regulation techniques?
This training is not about adding tools. It teaches you how to recognize what the nervous system can hold — before deciding which tool to use.
